Call for Abstracts - Symposium 2008

The 22nd International Symposium of the Society of Core Analysts

Abu Dhabi, U.A.E, 29th October to 2nd November 2008
 
Symposium Theme:
“Challenges in Carbonates and Solutions for Field Development”

The conference will consist of a 1 day workshop on Oct 29th followed by 3 days of technical sessions (including both oral and poster presentations) on Oct 30th, 1st and 2nd Nov. There will be no technical sessions on Fri Oct 31st when optional visits and sightseeing will be arranged.

The abstract submission date officially closed on Friday 15th February and thank you to all who have submitted abstracts. We know that some of you experienced difficulties when submitting the abstract online, if anyone could not submit their abstract or missed the deadline please send directly to Gary Sinclair VP Technology at gary@elreslab.com with a copy to Bas Schipper at info@scaweb.org by Friday 22nd February. As the abstract submission deadline was extended authors will now be notified if the abstract is to be accepted by first week in April 2008.



The SCA Technical Committee invites abstract submission for oral presentations and posters for the following proposed sessions:

  1. Case Studies – applied core analysis, integrated studies
  2. Improved SCAL Techniques and Interpretation
  3. Wettability - Determination/Restoration  – Practices and Recommendations
  4. Displacement Mechanisms - understanding the key reservoir processes
  5. Reservoir Characterization -including sample characterization and selection, scale of measurement, optimizing test design in carbonates
  6. Pore Scale Imaging and Modelling
  7. SCAL aiding the understanding of IOR/EOR and injection processes
  8. Other. (If your paper does not fit directly into any of the above then please suggest an alternative topic/theme)

ABSTRACTS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN 15th FEBRUARY 2008. ONLY ABSTRACTS SUBMITTED USING THIS ELECTRONIC FORM WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE CONFERENCE.

(Authors will be notified of acceptance by mid March 2008.)

Call for Abstracts Submission Form
The form should be fully completed for each abstract submitted for consideration. The Technical Committee will review all abstracts. For accepted abstracts (oral or poster presentations) a complete manuscript will be required by 9th May 2008. The manuscripts will then be reviewed by the Technical Committee. Authors should note that acceptance of the abstract does not automatically guarantee acceptance of the final manuscript, this will only be confirmed after the completed manuscript has been reviewed by the Technical Committee.

(1) Papers previously presented will only be considered if they are of exceptional interest and when there would be no infringement of existing copyright.

(2) The length of the abstract should be between 200 and 400 words. The abstract should be intelligible in its own right, and the use of equations trademarks, literature references, and supplementary text should be avoided. The information contained in the abstract is the principal basis for the acceptance or rejection of a paper. The abstract should present the method(s) of approach and important results in condensed form, emphasizing original aspects and technical advances and innovations.
